One of the things I love the most about a good song is the drumming. When it’s hard, pounding and RIGHT…you simply can’t go wrong. And one of my favorite drummers is Ms. Cindy Blackman. Lawd that woman is air.  So I just had to hop in the studio today and channel her awesomeness.  Whew! Listening to her rock out just gives me so much life!

Thank you Cindy. If not for women like you and Lady Shiela E, I don’t think us minority darlings would have ever wanted to pick up drumsticks. Rock on, Mama. Rock on!

Curating the New Year

When I first got commissioned to be a Curator for the exhibit, I had no idea what I was getting to.  But as I walked through the gallery, taking notes, I came across this piece that simply spoke to me. The young artist was incredibly talented, colors incredibly vivid and though the work seemed chaotic, I found peace between the lines.

I think…this series of artwork is going to be amazing and this gallery is far too small to contain such talent.
