The Sundae That is Me

We never know what life is going to bring us, or how it will mold us into who we eventually become. Barefaced, made up, I am simply me.

I am a 40+ Pansexual, Black woman and I am very proud of this fact.

I could write a post about how I came to discover who I was, my sexuality and how I came out. But honestly, I shouldn’t have to. I was born to love all beings, no matter their gender, no matter how they identify. And in discovering who I was and how I loved others helped me learn a lot about myself and how to accept who I was.

Pride isn’t just about proclaiming your sexuality proudly and wearing it like a badge of honor. It’s owning who you are, how you live and embracing your entire self as a person.

It’s about loving your imperfections as well as the labels that both you and society place upon yourself.  And it is more than something to do during the month of June.

I am simply me, imperfections and all. And I’m so proud of that.

The fact that I’m a 40+ Pansexual, Black woman … just happens to be the sprinkles on the Sundae that is me.
