Becoming Jillian Frost

Today is my first day of trying to begin Winter on my own. Papa, for whom I was named, trained me and watched me try to summon winter for years and now that I’m of age, my training is complete.  When he is ready I will take his place. But my final test before officially becoming his assistant is this morning.  He has tasked me with adding frost to our home and I think I’ve done well so far. I think I have juuuuust enough frost on the branches and I hope Papa approves. Now concentrate, Jillian. You’re almost done!

Happy Puppy!

This little one is just too cute!  Little rascal trotted up the walk with a bow on their neck and was yipping away. So I got them cleaned up, fed and now that they’re used to me, they just wag their little tail and wiggle happily when I scritch behind their ears.  Very happy puppy indeed!

Flashback: Sleep Eating

Flipping through my memory book and seeing that it’s been almost ten years since my daughter Tinashe found me, I had this flashback of when I was pregnant with her and her twin, Kellan.

One night, maybe a few weeks before giving birth, I remember waking up with this sticky substance on my face and farting like a car engine backfiring…A LOT. And I had to think hard about what it could be.  I got up, walked around trying to remember where I was, and went downstairs only to find the refrigerator door open and ice cream pooling out of the bottom tray of the fridge.

Looking on in confusion, I stood there and thought long and hard. I closed my eyes and tried to retrace my steps. Lawdeh…my pregnant butt was out here sleep eating again!  Smacking my lips from the memory, I chuckled to myself, closed the book, and went and got more ice cream in honor of a strange night of sleep eating.
